Activities & experiences during your stay
Because of ongoing repairs to damage caused by the August 2022 storm event to our infrastructure, the Lodge is closed for business until further notice.
The experiences available at Homewood encompass a wide range, from relaxing on the deck with a book all the way to physical water- and land-based activities: you can be as active or inactive as you choose!
Experience serenity as you relax, enjoy a book in the mezzanine library, or work on a puzzle. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck as you survey the changing colors of the Sound. In the evening see the stars come out in a brilliant light display in the clean, clear, fresh air.
Outdoor pursuits include kayaking, shellfish gathering, boat rowing, and fishing. Beachcomb, walk the many trails, with a made-to-order picnic lunch if you desire. Learn about the Maori history of the area. Enjoy native wildlife (dolphins, wekas, eagle rays, tuis, bellbirds). Guided charters can be arranged for fishing, hunting, sightseeing and diving (rock lobster and abalone). Join the mail boat ride, sampling the local culture as mail is delivered to remote corners of the Sound. Play croquet or petanque on the lawn or roast marshmallows over the fire pit.
Select an Orienteering Course best suited to your preferences, traversing native forest, sustainably managed conifer stands, headlands, and foreshore; on or off established trails.
A variety of hiking trails are found throughout the area. Water taxi service is available to transport hikers from/to destinations in Kenepuru and Pelorus Sounds, including the famed Queen Charlotte and Nydia Tracks, as well as other trails in the vicinity to suit all fitness levels.

Greenshell Mussel Cruise. Daily cruise departures over the summer season from the Havelock Marina. A wonderful cruise out in to the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds, two of the main Sounds that make up the Marlborough Sounds. Visit a Greenshell Mussel Farm for the perfect wine and food match of fresh steamed mussels served with a glass of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
